Principal Secretary (Transport) Rajesh Kumar Singh held a meeting with the officers on Friday and directed senior citizen women to travel for free. A suggestion has also been prepared to get reimbursement from the government for free travel.
Under this, the facility of bus travel can be given to elderly women as many times as they want in that month on payment of Rs 99 per month in lieu of free travel. The Transport Corporation has started preparations for providing free bus travel on the lines of Rajasthan.
Managing Director, Transport Corporation Rajendra Pratap Singh informed that the details of pensioners have been called from the Social Welfare Department for the number of women above 60 years of age in the state.
Elderly women will get the facility
of free travel not only in ordinary buses, but also in AC services. That is, they will be able to travel in Volvo, Scania, Janrath, Mahila Special Pink Special, Shatabdi. In addition, other facilities will be given to senior citizen women at the bus stand.
