Maharana Udai Singh was highly impressed upon seeing the lake, therefore, he decided to build the city of Udaipur on the banks of this lake.

Fateh Sagar

Fateh Sagar is a beautiful pear shaped lake which was developed by Maharana Fateh Singh in the year 1678. It is one of the four lakes of Udaipur and is considered the pride of the city. Due to its beautiful blue waters and lush green surroundings, this place has been named ‘Second Kashmir’.

Lake Palace

Located on Jag Niwas Island amidst Lake Pichola, the Lake Palace is a magnificent structure. Maharana Jagat Singh built this palace in the year 1743 as a summer retreat. Sajjangarh

Sajjangarh, also known as the ‘Monsoon Palace’, is a wonderful palatial building in Udaipur. The palace is situated on the Bansdara peak of the Aravalli range at an altitude of 944 meters above sea level. The palace was built in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh of the Mewar dynasty to see the monsoon clouds.

Bagore ki Haveli, located near Lake Pichola, is an old building built by Amir Chand Barwa, the Chief Minister of the Mewar royal court. Intricate carvings, and beautiful glass work are the major attractions of this 18th century mansion.

City Palace

City Palace is one of the most beautiful palatial buildings of Udaipur. It is considered to be the largest of its kind in Rajasthan. Maharana Udai Mirza Singh built the palace in 1559 as the capital of the Sisodia Rajput dynasty. It is situated on the banks of Lake Pichola.

Crystal Gallery

The Crystal Gallery is a part of the Fateh Prakash Palace which was opened to the general public in the year 1994. This 129-year-old gallery displays a beautiful collection of Osler crystals. Maharana Sajjan Singh had specially ordered them from the famous crystal manufacturer F and C Osler Company of England in 1877 AD.

Fateh Prakash Palace

Fateh Prakash Palace is located near Lake Pichola, and has been converted into a heritage hotel. It was named after the Mewar king, Maharana Fateh Singh.

Ahar is a famous archaeological site which is famous for the monuments of the rulers of Mewar. Situated at a distance of 3 km from Udaipur, this city has more than 19 tombs of its rulers, who were cremated here. Apart from the monuments, there is an archaeological museum in Ahar.
