Indian Railways is launching an app based bag-on-wheels service for passengers for the first time. Under this, a convenient service will be available to bring / deliver the goods from the passenger’s home to his coach. The facility is first planned to be started from 23rd to 26th January at Ahmedabad railway station across the country. After this, will begin in Bengaluru and Nagpur. Patna is the first junction in eastern India, from where this service will start.
Danapur Railway Division of East Central Railway has approved this new facility. According to the media report, the agency Book and Baggage.com has got the responsibility to start it from Danapur division. It will begin in Patna by the last week of February.
Luggage Booking
Travelers will have the option of booking on the agency’s app and website. The app has to be downloaded to Android Mobile. The size, weight and other information of the bag will have to be given. According to this, there will be a fee. The fee will be determined according to the distance and weight from the station. The maximum distance will be 50 km and the lowest rate will be 125 rupees. A distance of 10 km and a side fee of minimum 10 kg bag will be Rs 125.
Public transport service
Railways have taken this new initiative with the aim of increasing convenience and earning for railway passengers. Now you can reach or ask for luggage / same railway station at your home. Northern Railway has started this facility, currently the firm has given a contract for this facility and now this facility will be started soon.
iPhone Users
Through the BoW app (available for Android and iPhone users), rail passengers will apply to bring their goods from their home to the railway station or from the railway station to the home. The work of transporting the passenger’s luggage safely and according to the booking details of the passenger will be done by the contractor.
Lady Passengers
This facility will prove to be more helpful for railway passengers, especially senior citizens, PwDs and women passengers traveling alone. Baggage delivery will take place before the departure of the train.
Railway income hike
This service will not only benefit the passengers, but the railways will also get a non-fare revenue of Rs 50 lakhs per annum as well as a 10% share for a period of 1 year. The passengers of the Indian Railways have so far enjoyed the Palace on Wheels service, now they will also be able to enjoy the bags on wheels service.
