Jamshedpur: Good news for the passengers traveling in trains.

Now they do not need to bring food and drink from home during the journey as the closed catering facility is starting once again after 18 months of Kovid 19. After this initiative of the Railways, packaged food will be distributed to the passengers from private vendors only

For this, these aspects have been reviewed by the Ministry of Railways. Let us tell you that about 40 pairs of trains operate every day from Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway and pantry car facility is also available for catering in most of the trains.

Things are getting normal

With the spread of Kovid 19 in the country, the operation of passenger trains was completely stopped due to the lockdown. But when the situation became a bit normal between the first wave to the second wave, the railways started restoring the traffic services gradually.

So far 1700 Mail, Express and Superfast trains have been brought back on track. However, despite this, the catering service in trains has not yet started. In such a situation, after providing vaccine service to the population of 100 crores, the central government is taking initiative again in this direction.

Private vendors are charging higher prices

Till now only IRCTC vendors were serving food to the passengers on behalf of the railways. Accordingly, many private vendors were also supplying food at different stations at arbitrary prices. The railways was also receiving frequent complaints in this regard. If sources are to be believed, the Ministry of Railways, after considering the matter seriously, opted to restore the catering service so that the passengers do not face any kind of trouble.

Demand from IRCTC to restore catering service continuously

IRCTC currently provides catering service in trains operating across the country. But due to Kovid 19, all these services were completely stopped. Let us tell you that IRCTC is a BSE listed company. The impact of the ban on food service was seen in IRCTC in the stock market. The company’s stock saw a significant decline.

IRCTC is the parent company of the Ministry of Railways. In such a situation, the Ministry of Railways decided to resume the catering service in the train to avoid future losses.

PAC is continuously inspecting

Let us tell you that the Passenger Amnesty Committee of the Railways is continuously inspecting many railway stations. Which is also taking feedback from passengers and railway employees. In which they had demanded to restore the catering service in trains, to start the facility of blanket, sheet, pillow in AC class.

Millions get employment from catering service

When catering service is provided to the passengers by IRCTC in various trains of the country, more than five lakh youths get direct and indirect employment from it. Due to which the families of these youths can also be fed. In such a situation, keeping in mind the employment of lakhs of youth, it has been decided to resume the catering service in trains.
