New Delhi: With the slowing down of corona virus infection, people have started turning back to cities for employment. In view of this, Indian Railways is going to increase the operation of many special trains to facilitate the travel of the public, to provide trains for the movement of migrant workers and to eliminate the waiting list.

Before Kovid-19, on an average about 1768 mail and express trains were operating daily. As of 18 June 2021, about 983 mail and express trains are operating daily, which is about 56 percent compared to the level before Kovid. The number of trains is gradually being increased depending on the demand and business needs. About 800 mail and express trains were in operation till 1 June 2021. During the period from 1st June to 18th June, the Zonal Railways were allowed to operate 660 additional mail and express trains.
Summer Special Trains Gorakhpur-Mumbai, Bhagalpur-Mumbai, Bhubaneshwar-Pune, Danapur-Pune, Barauni-Ahmedabad, Patna-Delhi, Samastipur-Mumbai, Sealdah-Delhi, Raxaul-Delhi, Saharsa-Delhi, Danapur-Secunderabad, Raxaul- Secunderabad, Patliputra-Bangalore, Chhapra-Mumbai, Guwahati-Bangalore, Gorakhpur-Hyderabad etc. are operating between different origin-destination.
