Indian Railways has decided to abolish the AC Economy (3E) category. The purpose of introducing AC-3 economy coach like Third AC from Indian Railways was to provide comfortable and convenient travel at low cost.
A big decision is being taken by the Indian Railways. Actually, Indian Railways has decided to abolish AC Economy (3E) category. According to a report in The Times of India, 14 months after the introduction of this new category, the Indian Railways has decided to do away with the AC Economy (3E) class in trains.
AC-3 economy coach was started in 2021: After this decision of Railways, now 3 (E) class will be merged with AC-3. Please tell, this bogie is officially called 3 (A). There will be no change in AC-3 tier fare, its charges will remain the same. Railways had announced in September 2021 starting 3 (E) as a class. At that time, the Railways had said that the fare in the newly introduced coaches would be 6 to 8 percent less than the normal AC-3 coaches.
The AC-3 economy coach has these facilities: Like the third AC, the purpose of starting the AC-3 economy coach from the Indian Railways was to provide comfortable and convenient travel at a low cost. These coaches also have modern facilities for fire safety including mobile phones and magazine holders. Apart from this, facilities like light, AC vent, USB point, mobile charging point are also available in the coach for private reading.
Know what is the difference between both the coaches: AC 3 Economy (3E) and AC 3 Tier (3A) are generally not much different. But AC 3 Economy (3E) is different from AC 3 Tier (3A) in some respects. Talking about the difference, the biggest difference between the two coaches is the seats. The number of seats in AC 3 economy is much more as compared to AC 3 tier. The number of berths in AC AC 3 Tier (3A) is 72, whereas, the number of berths in AC 3 (3E) is 83.
