Railway Minister issued a statement

Let us tell you that before Corona, the government had stopped the discount given to senior citizens in the train, but a statement has been issued by the Railway Minister regarding its restoration. Giving information, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that at present there is no plan to restore this exemption.

Preparations are being made to change the age limit

Along with this, news is coming that the Railway Board is planning to change the age limit of senior citizens, after which the passengers will get relaxation according to the category. At the same time, earlier the Railway Department used to give concessions to all categories of people.

Rs 59,000 crore subsidy given

Giving further information, the Railway Minister has said that a subsidy of Rs 59,000 crore has been given for passenger services, which is bigger than the annual budget of many states. At the same time, the annual pension bill of the Railways is about Rs 60,000 crore. Apart from this, the salary bill is Rs 97,000 crore while Rs 40,000 crore is being spent on fuel.

This much discount was available before Corona

Let us tell you that before the Corona epidemic, concessions were given by the Railways to women aged 58 years and above and men aged 60 years and above. Women used to get 50 per cent discount and men got 40 per cent discount on all categories of tickets.
