The water sports season in Kerala is between July and September. During this snake boat race is organized in the backwaters of Alappuzha. The most famous of these is the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, which is organized every year in the second week of August. The biggest attraction of these races would be its boats which are about 30 meters long and snake-shaped.

Onam, the festival of crops, is celebrated here for 10 days during the monsoon season itself. During this, very tasty vegetarian food is served on banana leaves. If you want, you can also enjoy this food by going to a local restaurant.
